There is a powerful life force within us that flows from seven wheels of energy, known as the chakra. These seven energy centers spin to keep our life force flowing, each affecting different parts of our bodies, minds and spirits. When the chakras are balanced and spinning in harmony, we feel at our best. However, it is not uncommon for our chakras to spin too fast or too slow, making us feel physically and emotionally unwell.
We can restore balance to our chakras and improve our well-being if we get to know what each energy center affects and how it can be revved up or calmed down. Today, we’re starting with the first chakra, the Root Chakra.
The Root Chakra is your foundation. It is located at the base of your spine, near your tailbone and stretching up to just below your navel. It’s Sanskrit name, Muladhara, comes from the words ‘Mula’, meaning ‘root’, and ‘Dhara’, meaning ‘support’. This chakra connects you to the earth and helps to keep you grounded. It controls the energy associated with our feelings of safety and survival, as well as trust and comfort.
IS YOUR ROOT CHAKRA BALANCED?
A balanced Root Chakra is essential for good health and stable, peaceful life. When it’s balanced, you’ll feel safe and secure. You’ll connect easily to others, to nature, and to yourself.
When the Root Chakra is unbalanced, you’ll be fearful, anxious and distrusting. An overactive Root Chakra can send you into survival mode even if there’s no real danger. Relationships will suffer and you’ll find it hard to be yourself. You may feel disconnected, causing you to overcompensate by surrounding yourself with material goods. An underactive Root Chakra can make it difficult to concentrate and think clearly.
HOW TO BALANCE YOUR ROOT CHAKRA
Chant. The Root Chakra is connected to the vibration of the sound ‘Lam’. Chant ‘Lam’ to yourself, drawing out each letter and focusing on the sound it makes.
Volunteer. Kindness and compassion can calm any chakra, especially the Root Chakra, by focusing your energy in a positive way.
Walk outside. Connect your feet to the ground and let the earth realign your energy.
Get red. The color red is associated with the Root Chakra. To achieve balance, wear red clothing, eat red fruits and vegetables, and incorporate the color into your day as much as you can.
Use crystals. Certain crystals can be place on or around a chakra to restore balance. For the Root Chakra, try carnelian, smoky quartz, black tourmaline or jasper.
If you’ve tried to balance your Root Chakra yourself, but still find yourself suffering the symptoms, it may be time to consult a professional. There are tons of spiritual advisors on Zodiac Psychics that can assist with energy clearing and healing to restore balance to your body, mind and spirit.
